Like many, many other Optima owners, I am in jeopardy because the door locks are malfunctioning. The driver door will not unlock/open from the inside or outside. I cannot fit through the window and have EXTREME difficulty crawling over to the passenger side.
I have had three mechanics inspect the lock and have had a new door handle installed - but they were unable to find a solution. Sometimes if I continuously try to unlock the door with the key while simultaneously pulling on the door handle after an hour or two of attempting this, the door sometimes miraculously opens....but now I cannot get the door to open at all.
I have left the door unlocked for two years! Two days ago, I opened the passenger door to put in groceries and the DRIVER door automatically locked. I cannot get it opened. This is so frustrating and angering. Why will Kia not address this problem? It does not help that I'm claustrophobic.
