It happened after the 1st oil change from Kia dealership, the car itself is PHEV so while driving on electric there is no smell on it but right after switching over to engine gasoline HEV only. the interior & exterior smell with heavily burned gasoline. the smell has been complained by my wife and parents. Specially I have a 11 months old baby. not sure what will cause in the future but it makes them dizziness from the gasoline burning from engine to the inside of cabinet. my entire garage now smells with the burned gasoline and its very hard to go away. every time I drive with HEV mode it smells bad, very bad. I've called to schedule a check up on the car on [XXX] but not sure if is common issue with this type of PHEV cars. Leased NEW Kia Sportage on 1/1/22 Went in for oil change on 11/11/22 3 hrs later told a "forced" update "burned" out the computer and car was not driveable On 11/30/22 was driving to work on LI expressway, car shut down without warning while I was driving, smelled something burning, called 911, car towed to dealer. Told it was defective fuel injector. 1/29/23 I reported brakes grinding and vibration sound coming from engine, RPM's rev up but car doesn't accelerate. Brakes needed to be cut. Was told since there was no "code" nothing could be done about engine sound/rpm increasing. Car was in for service 3 times because of this issue. 9/10/23 car shut down while I was driving without warning and gas smell in car was nauseating. Car would briefly start & shut down. Car towed to dealer. I have reached out to Kia Corporate numerous times expressing I am afraid to drive the car, the car is dangerous and my life and the lives of others at risk. When car shuts down, ther is NO warning, it just STOPS. I have had nightmares and lost sleep. I travel on highways & busy roads everyday. Kia wanted me to sign waiver releasing them of everything in lieu of 3 months lease payments. Expressed my life & lives of others are worth more than 3 payments. Car has had 2 recalls on top of these issues. I have reached out for help and have been ignored. 9/12/23 told by KIA corporate it would take 2 weeks to escalate my complaint. Car is currently at dealership. PLEASE HELP!

Fuel reading is inaccurate. Range miles drop drastically while traveling. Vehicle says it-??s is out of fuels when there is more than a half a tax. Fuel range miles go from 313 miles while vehicle is off to 417 without refueling. Then drop about 40 range mile during a short 5 or less mile commute. This is all happening while vehicle is traveling is electric mode. Multiple times the vehicles dash display said I was out of gas, but when I went to refuel, there-??s more than a half a tank. From doing a little online research seems like this is not a isolated incident and many others are having this problem.

This is a new vehicle with only 1200 miles on it. I was told by Gunther Kia in Ft. Lauderdale that my car could be serviced at any Kia dealership. The car has developed a fuel injection problem. When in heavy traffic with a lot of stop/go, the fuel injection does not seem able to keep up with the aceleration and deceleration required. The car hesitates. As the trip progresses the hesitation progresses. I was trying to enter traffic on the interstate and nearly had a collision because the car would not accelerate quick enough.

How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was on a major road at the time this occurred. Thankfully the time of day was in my side. If this was a few hours later there would have been a collision as I was in a main lane and had to veer to a turning lane. I am frightened every time I-??m in the car now. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? The dealer ship has confirmed. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Just the dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" No, the warning came on after it happened.

On the morning of May 16 2023 while making a turn at 17 th Avenue and Bayshore Drive my car continued to accelerate in spite of me trying to brake. I was projected into a stone wall and knew I was going to crash. I crashed into the wall, all my airbags were deployed and the car smelled like smoke. My accelerator got stuck and was sideways.I was unable to get out of the car from inside but a Good Samaritan had opened the door from the outside and I crawled under the airbags and got out. The car did not go on fire but was still on when I was able to then turn it off. Police were called and I was checked at the hospital.

Low oil indicator light came on at 15k miles. Tried to lock doors with key fob but could not. Had to open doors using key after popping off door handle. Put key in ignition but when turning car off and taking key out of ignition vehicle kept running and did not turn off for 15 minutes. Finally turned off on its own. Had vehicle towed by Kia to Kia of Groton CT.

This is a heads up, not an incident report. On this vehicle there is a push button starter on the center console. Page 6-11 of the owner-??s manual has a warning that reads, -??Never press the ENGINE START/STOP button while the vehicle is in motion. This would result in loss of directional control and braking function, which could cause an accident.-?? I feel this is a hazard with an easy fix: disable the start button if the vehicle is in motion. A toddler could reach over and press the button for fun. A person could drop an object on it accidentally. I-??m sure there are other scenarios where that button gets pushed inadvertently. Thank you.

The car is currently in the shop at Jim Shorkey Gainesville Kia and is available for inspection. They have contacted me to tell me the transmission/engine failed. I was driving on interstate when I suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and was forced to get off of the highway. After coming to a complete stop I pressed on the gas pedal but the car would still not accelerate. I tried putting into park and back into drive and that did not work. I tried putting it into manual mode and it did go forward but every gear change was loud, jerky, and rough. I was able to make to my next complete stop in a left turning lane to cross a two lane busy highway that is coming downhill towards me at an intersection that does not have a traffic signal. However the car was stuck in gear 5. I was the first car in line. At this point I put other cars in danger as they swerved back into the high way to get around me into the intersection to make that left turn across busy highway. I turned the car completely off and after a minute turned it back on. I put in drive, waited until I couldn't see any cars coming down the hill and I pressed the gas pedal to test. It jerked forward and I managed to get across the highway as it shifted into the second gear it jerked violently and made a loud popping noise and there after every single gear change was loud and jerky. Thank God I did not lose the ability to accelerate in that left turn because those cars are coming at 70+ miles per hour Down that hill or my family would have been t-boned on their passenger side. I am also lucky that I was able to get off the nearest exit when they problem originally happened as I was going downhill on the interstate and the next exit was very close so my momentum got me there. I lost the ability to control the vehicle as I ordinarily would putting myself, my family, and other motorists in danger had we not been able to get off on the exit or make it through that left turn.
