Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Range Rover Sport 8-cyl

  • 5,300 miles

While driving on highway at speed, the vehicle suffered a complete power failure. The headlights turned off, the engine shut down, the dashboard went dark, and the power steering failed causing me to swerve partially out of my lane (I was on a curve). The power then came back on and the vehicle resumed functioning normally.

The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Range rover sport (N/a). While the contact was at a complete stop, he noticed smoke and a strong burning odor. The contact inspected underneath the hood with the gear placed in park and the engine in operation. There were small flames erupting from the bottom of the engine. The engine was turned off immediately and the flames were no longer visible. There was no personal injury. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who was unable to determine the cause of failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 6,200. The VIN was unavailable.
