I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Montero and it has about 135K miles, today it had ABS brake warning light came on and continuous beep came, then brakes became too hard and stopped working. I had to use handbrakes to stop the vehicle. It seems like the problem as stated in 2001 recall 01V254001. Please help me to resolve this problem.

The brakes were applied repeatedly and the vehicle would not slow down. The anti-lock braking system and brake warning light indicators illuminated followed by the warning chime sounding inside of the vehicle. The emergency brake was then engaged and the vehicle came to a complete stop. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the technician informed that the failure was contributed to the brake booster and ABS electronic control unit. The defective components were replaced. The failure and current mileages were approximately 120,000.
