The ticking comes and goes when it feels like it, mostly when it is cold though, keep the oil maintenance and get some oil additive

Cutlass 3.1L V6

Tapping occurs when running. Definitely more prominent at startup, but also bothersome when idling. I've had it looked at by a number of different shops, but no one seems to know what or why... or couldn't care less.

In cold weather, the engine makes a tapping noise until it is warm. This has me very concerned. I have the oil changed regularly using the manufacturer's recommended grade. I need to know of anyone else who has this problem with this car and how it was resolved. I've been told that there could be a problem with the pressure of the engine's oil pump; replacing it could run about 500.00; but was also advised that may not be it. HELP!
