Blinkers on a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue will quit working intermittently. Temperature and humidity seem to be a factor. Multiple taps on the hazard switch will restart the blinkers temporarily. This to be a known problem in the olds Alero of the same period. See NHTSA action number :EA02037.

2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. Consumer states problem with check engine light and a.I.R. pump the consumer stated the air conditioner failed and was blowing out hot air on the passenger side and cold air on the drivers' side. The wheels were no good. The plating on the inside would come off and create problems for the tires sealing properly, therefore an uneven wear occurred. The consumer also stated he began to have steering problems, there were several lights coming on the dash and going off, but the dealer was unable to diagnose the problem. The consumer began to investigate and discovered the part that was causing the lights to illuminate was the hydraulic brake modulator which cost $1,000. The transmission would shift hard at times and sometimes whine while driving. The turn signals did not always work or they would shut off while blinking. When the cruise control was activated, and the turn signal or head lights were activated the cruise control would deactivate by itself. The rear passenger window stopped working and the sway bar was cracked. Also, the gas pedal would stick at times. The heated seats were too cool on low and too hot on high.

No injuries as of yet but a default in the left side directional (signal) turning light. Works for a day and then burns out creating burn plastic in the socket, could lead to a wiring problem causing the alternator and such to burn out.

The 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue randomly does not start and sometimes leaves the family stranded. After 30 minutes or so of waiting, it may start right up. It has taken up to a day to restart. It started within a couple years of purchase, but has getting worse as time goes on. Randomly occurs 1 to 2 times per week. The dealers have not been able to find a problem.

I believe that I am experiencing the very same issue as addressed in investigation #EA02037. However, I have a 2000 olds Intrigue. I have tried checking the fuses and wiring, but recently discovered that by moving the hazard switch, the blinkers start working again. Currently I have flaky turn signals and when they do work, only the back signals light and blink, while the front signal light comes on, the front signals do not blink. I have to "jiggle" the hazard switch daily and have had no luck finding a replacement switch. As of today, I have narrowly avoided several accidents while turning left because the cars in front of me cannot see a working signal. Please advise.

Headlights, instrument lights, and fan dim and or flicker while driving. The problem is most prevalent when the temperature is colder and during acceleration. However problem also exists under normal city and highway driving conditions. Engine performance and radio does not falter during the dimming of the lights. Alternator was replaced following tsb 010603001 one year ago. Problem appeared resolved until cold weather set in again.

Communication failure from main computer causes car to stall and sometimes not even start as well as A/C heater and cruise control works once and a while. Contacted dealer and was told a person from the services dept would call me back. They didn't. talked to another person and told then about the car stalling and not starting and they told me that it was either the fuel filter or the fuel pump. Replace fuel filter, didn't help checked fuel pump but it was working just fine. The car has stalled out on the highway many times and has but my life as well as my childrens lifes in danger. When it dies the power steering and power brakes do not respond. Just today I had a basic computer scan done which told me the problem. The place that did the test informed me that is the #1 problem with the Oldsmobile from 1997-2001. I was also informed that GM is aware of this problem, but they wont do anything until a death results from it. GM needs to step up and fix these problems. This is also a problem with the Alero's (2000 model).
