The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the tailgate opened independently. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 19V347000 (latches/locks/linkages) several weeks before the failure. The vehicle was taken to Jeep Chrysler Dodge Ram Fiat of Ontario (1202 auto center dr, Ontario, ca 91761) where it was diagnosed that the latches were sticking due to dirt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ram 1500. While driving various speeds, the tailgate inadvertently opened. The failure recurred a second time while driving at a slow rate of speed. As a result, the items in the truck bed fell onto the roadway. The vehicle was taken to schlossmann Dodge city Chrysler Jeep Ram Fiat (19100 w capitol dr., brookfield, wi 53045, (262) 790-9000), but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The contact scheduled another appointment with the dealer in an attempt to have the failure diagnosed and repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000. The VIN was not available.
