The problem started as while in drive sitting at a stop light, the brake pedal would slowly mash to the floor and then the car would creep forward, then I would have to let go & repress the brake pedal again & repeat this procedure constantly. Finally I would put it in park and when the light would turn green or the train cleared the tracks, put it in drive and go.

Yes, my xB has high mileage, but the repair shop first replaced the rear brake pads, that didn't work, then replaced both rear brake cylinders & that didn't work, then replaced the master cylinder, it's working a little better, but now the brake pads are rubbing a bit and make an embarrassing noise while driving. I'm now told there could be debris in the brake line & could cost up to $1500 more to complete, which would exceed the vehicles value....sigh!!

I love my xB, but this is tarnishing my love for it. The repair shop has done good work at a fair price in years past & I honestly feel they are competent and capable of fixing my car. Maybe with the high mileage (241k), my xB is just suffering from mechanical arthritis? (I just made that up & think it's a very good analogy)

Maybe I'll sell it & move on to the newer body style xB? I'm 6'8" tall at 350lbs & super comfortable, but since the new xB's put the darn gear shift in the center of the dash board, it severely reduced my leg room.
