Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2009 Scion xD Owner Comments

problem #1

Nov 202009

  • 15,000 miles

The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Scion Xd which was purchased in 2009 in the state of Florida. He reviewed recalls on the internet for his year make and model pertaining to those sold in or currently registered in the "salt states." He stated that he drives the vehicle to New York often, which is one of the states listed in the recall. He was concerned with his safety because when driving under certain unique conditions in extremely low ambient temperatures, the intake manifold suction port for the brake vacuum could become blocked due to the freezing of condensation resulting from positive crankcase ventilation. He felt the recall should be extended to all states, keeping in mind that people travel and relocate to other states that are listed in the recall. There were no failures. The VIN was not accepted. The current mileages was 15,000.
