Mercedes Benz dealership Listers Hull / Buying a top spec £15k Smart Car!

My buying experience journey fraught with problems from poor product knowledge,inaccurate price quotations,lack of empathy for sales transaction,poor welcome from 3rd party contact at dealership.

BUT the best came on collection £2k deposit paid in full before collection sales lady, finance Manager, General Sales Manager handshakes etc thank you for your custom wish you well for trouble free driving with Smart to be told car has a significant fault / engine managent system will need replaced / this on a Monday earliest fix time Thursday but if not happy driving brand new faulty car could have a corresponding type car as loan vechicle till mine ready. So the dealer has had car from delivery nearly a week to have me travel to collect brand new car to be told on completion of paperwork car not fit for purpose!

What was the corresponding loan car to a Smart compact car....the sales ladies large Mercedes C class saloon car!

I was told by Sales I could if I wish walk away from the transaction now with no further advice offer of let us repair your new unused car or walk away now.

I took after reflection the walk away offer has to have been presented a car for collection in effect "broken and defective before being driven away" was nothing short of totally unacceptable negligent and portrayed a total failure in there pre-inspection for delivery procedures.

I'm now home phoned the Sales person for clarification of what happens now regards ownership registration and my reimbursement of £2k. Surprise Surprise call not returned and no communications from her superiors the finance Manager or the main man the General Sales Manager.

My advice to ALL potential Smart Car Buyers don't! The dealers have no product or pricing awareness knowledge of Smart Cars. The car is promised has ready for collection and offered in a defective state as being fit for driving away!

Never in over 40 years of motoring and over 12 car from new purchases have I experienced such poor and inept management of a car sales transaction. The poor sales lady left high and dry to manage the obvious anger and rejection of this sub-standard car with no contact from her superior to me whatsoever.

I chose Listers Hull as JCT/600 Mercedes Smart York had even less knowledge of Smart Cars not even the knowledge of the Audio Systems available and because I enquired dressed in my full motorcycle gear got treated has some 'trash' and stood to wait like a lemon at Reception until some "person" was forced to speak deal with me! The nightmare in this part of the world Mercedes have trusted both
