CarComplaints.com Notes: Is burning a quart of oil every 1,000 miles normal? Depends on who you ask. While Subaru says it's within "normal specifications," owners wonder why they need to top off their oil reservoir 4 times between every 5,000 mile oil change.

I have been told by the Mechanic at Subaru Dealer that Subaru soy based wiring is the cause of the problem. The rodents chew on the wires and ruin it. I have been shown teeth marks on the wiring and on the wheel wells and I do NOT live in the country. I live in town in a subdivision and pay to have rat boxes with poison put around my house and in my carport. This has happened twice so far. I notice electrical problems like the radio not working, the blue tooth going out, the dashboard lights not working and my headlights and tail lights keep blowing out. Sometimes the car will not shift properly and on and on and on.

The first time it cost over $1000.00 and the next time was close to $1000.00. The first time they replaced the entire wiring harness by gutting my car, the second time I think they only replaced certain parts and taped things together. I am very upset and disappointed in the problem as I purchased a Subaru thinking I would have a great car for the rest of my life. I have had nothing but problems with this car and feel it is the proverbial LEMON. Thankfully the repairs for the wiring were covered by my Homeowners Policy. However, there is ALWAYS another problem that is NOT covered and I have to pay for.
