CarComplaints.com Notes: Subaru thinks burning through a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so is perfectly normal. That's a crude stance if you ask us.

I cannot read the red print on black ground at night on the dashboard. I have to drive at night.
I cannot read the odometer during the day. This weekend during the day, I drove down the Seward Highway for work retreat. I could not read the odometer in the bright sunshine. At times the odometer was completely black. There were several road speed signs warning of a limit of 55 miles per hour or double fines. I had a trail of cars behind me, because I did not know how fast I was going. When I approached the flashing “your speed limit†it was 43 miles per hour! This was very frightening to me and the vehicles behind me.
I was unaware of this problem when I purchased the car.
My attempts to correct this very unsafe problem:
• Service Department – tried to change the display - not an option • 800 number – 1-800-782-2783 – told me of other complaints of the dash lights for reading speed • Email to sales manager – he would report to the district manager
