GM Recalls Vehicles With Transmissions That Shift When They Shouldn't
Transmission software glitch found in the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac SRX.

— General Motors is recalling 26,582 model year 2013 Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac SRX vehicles for transmission software problems.

GM says the problem could cause the transmission to mistakenly shift to Sport mode, which removes any transmission-related engine braking effect.

The affected Buick LaCrosse vehicles were manufactured April 25, 2012, through March 6, 2013, and the Cadillac SRX vehicles were manufactured between May 29, 2012, through February 18, 2013.

The recall should begin on March 28, 2013.  GM dealers will reprogram the transmission control module, but there is no indication how long it will take the dealer to do that.

With questions, Cadillac owners can call 866-982-2339 and Buick owners should call 866-694-6546.  The recall number is 13053.
