— Subaru is recalling 16 model year 2012 Outback and Legacy vehicles because the bottom of the windshield wiper motor could melt and catch fire.
The affected vehicles were manufactured from April 6, 2011, through May 12, 2011.
Subaru said the problem is in the components inside the wiper motor that can cause the bottom to overheat. It’s one thing if it melts, but a fire could easily spread to other areas under the hood.
Subaru said they have notified all affected owners. Dealers will replace the front wiper motor bottom cover to fix the problem.

This is the second Subaru recall announced today, and the third recall in less than two weeks.
Earlier today, Subaru said they were recalling 2012 Outback and Legacy vehicles because the moonroof glass could come loose and fly away.
Just over a week ago, Subaru recalled 2010-2013 Legacy and Outback, 2012-2013 Impreza, and 2013 XV Crosstrek vehicles because the remote engine starter key fob could actually drain your gas tank.
