Hyundai Recalls Sonata Sedans To Fix Defective Seat Belt Buckles
Hyundai recalls 140,000 model year 2015 Sonata sedans with selt belt buckles that fail.

— It doesn't take long to recall cars when they hit the market, and the 2015 Hyundai Sonata is proof of that. Hyundai is recalling 143,000 of the 2015 Sonatas to fix problems with the seat belt buckles.

Hyundai hasn't released many details about the recall, but the problem apparently involves the metal tongue of the front passenger seat belt buckle. A Hyundai representative said the buckle can jam and keep the seat belt from fastening. That means a useless seat belt in a crash or during sudden stops.

The recalled 2015 Hyundai Sonata cars were built April 25, 2014, to December 4, 2014, and the 140,000 cars are located in both the U.S. and Canada.

The automaker says it's unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the seat belt buckles.

The recall is expected to begin August 21, 2015. Hyundai said its dealers will repair or replace the defective buckles.

Owners of the 2015 Hyundai Sonata who have questions should call Hyundai at 855-671-3059 and give them recall number 130.
