Kia Recalls Sorento For Seat Belts That Won't Latch
Front passenger seat belt buckles won't latch in the 2016 Kia Sorento.

— Months after recalling the 2016 Kia Sorento for failing to accelerate, the 2016 Sorento is recalled again, this time to repair seat belt problems.

Kia says over 2,500 of the new cars have front passenger seat belt buckle latch assemblies that can block the seat belt from fastening. Kia says the belt can fail to fasten if the front passenger seat belt latch tongue is forced into the seat belt buckle at an extreme angle.

The defect was traced to an interference between the latch tongue and a component inside the the seat belt buckle. The automaker says the passenger won't have a false sense of security because it will be obvious the latch won't lock into the buckle.

The recalled 2016 Kia Sorentos were built October 23, 2014, to December 10, 2014.

The 2016 Kia Sorento seat belt buckle recall will begin August 18, 2015. Dealers will replace the front passenger seat belt buckle cover to fix the problem.

If you own one of the Kia Sorentos and have questions, call Kia at 800-333-4542 and give customer service the recall number SC123.
