Land Rover Recalls 6,800 Range Rover Sports
Owner manuals for 6,800 Land Rover Range Rover Sports are wrong about airbag lights.

— Jaguar Land Rover is recalling nearly 6,000 model year 2014 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SUVs because the owner manuals have incorrect information. The automaker says the information is incorrect relating to the airbag status light, which is a violation of federal safety standards.

The misprinted manuals were discovered during an engineering review of the draft copy of a handbook for the 2016 Range Rover Sport. It was determined the description of how the airbag light functions didn't match how the light actually works. Land Rover then researched previous models and found the 2014 Range Rover Sport manual was also misprinted with the incorrect airbag warning light information.

The problem stems from a change Land Rover made where the airbag status indicator light was incorporated into a new roof console. To date, there have been no reports of accidents or injuries related to the incorrect manuals.

The recalled Range Rover Sports were built December 16, 2013, to April 15, 2014.

Land Rover will notify owners beginning October 31, 2015.

With questions or concerns, Range Rover Sport owners can call customer service at 800-637-6837 and use Land Rover's recall number P071.

Range Rover and Range Rover Sport

Add another 856 model year 2015 Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUVs to the recall list, all because of latch problems in the second row seats. Land Rover says the second row seat-back may not latch properly, especially in the center section. That could cause a passenger serious problems in the event of a crash.

The affected Range Rovers were manufactured June 2, 2015, to June 11, 2015.

Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the second row seat mechanism, replacing it as required. The recall is expected to begin November 13, 2015.

Owners may contact Land Rover's customer service at 800-637-6837 and use recall number P072.
