Southeast Toyota Distributors Recall 5,000 Toyota and Scion Vehicles
Toyota and Scion vehicles have running boards that might fall off.

— Southeast Toyota Distributors is recalling over 5,000 vehicles to repair two separate defects. Southeast Toyota Distributors is the world's largest independent distributor of Toyota and Scion vehicles. As such, the company is treated by the government similar to Toyota when vehicles need to be recalled.

Southeast Toyota says almost 4,000 model year 2014-2015 Toyota 4Runner, Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, Land Cruiser, RAV4, Scion FRS, and XB vehicles have running boards that could fall from the vehicles. Southeast Toyota says other accessories might be involved also, all due to fasteners that were not properly tightened.

Owners should watch for notification directly from Southeast Toyota Distributors starting February 9, 2015. Dealers will tighten the affected bolts to verify no running boards or anything else will fall from the vehicles.

With questions or comments, contact Southeast Toyota customer service at 866-405-4226 and give them recall number SET-14B.

Southeast Toyota Distributors is also recalling about 1,140 model year 2013-2015 Toyota Rav4 vehicles equipped with an accessory trailer light module. The software within the module may incorrectly detect an electrical short and turn off the power and the trailer lights. Not exactly the best thing to happen if traveling at night.

Southeast Toyota Distributors says the recalled Rav4 vehicles were manufactured June 1, 2013, to December 29, 2014.

The recall should begin February 23, 2015. Dealers will replace the trailer light module with a different module containing updated software.

Owners may contact Southeast Toyota Distributors at 866-405-4226 and refer to recall number SET-15A.
