Chrysler Recalls 37,000 Vehicles Over Transmission Pumps
FCA US says transmission pumps need replaced in more than 37,000 vans and SUVs.

— Fiat Chrysler (FCA US) is recalling more than 37,000 vans and SUVs to replace their transmission pumps.

Recalled are 2015-2016 Dodge Journey crossover SUVs, 2015-2016 Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivans and 2016 Ram ProMaster full-size vans.

FCA thanks the discovery of the problem to an examination of warranty data that caused an internal investigation of the six-speed automatic transmissions. Chrysler determined the faulty transmission pumps "may not conform to specifications" and can cause the vehicles to lose propulsion.

However, the automaker says it's unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the transmission pumps, and most of the U.S. vehicles are sitting on dealership lots.

About 26,211 vans and SUVs are in the U.S., with another 9,190 vehicles in Canada, 321 in Mexico and 1,514 outside North America.

The recall is expected to begin on August 18, 2016. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403 and Chrysler's number for this recall is S44.
