Jaguar Land Rover Recalls XF and Range Rover
About 17,000 Jaguar XF cars and Land Rover Range Rover SUVs over Takata airbags.

— Jaguar Land Rover is recalling about 17,000 vehicles in two recalls involving different "Zones" of the country, all because airbag maker Takata ordered 5.7 million inflators recalled to keep occupants safe from exploding airbags.

Jaguar XF

More than 8,190 model year 2012 Jaguar XF cars are recalled if they were originally sold or ever registered in the following Zone A locations:

Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan) and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In addition, 2009 Jaguar XF cars need their passenger-side airbag inflators replaced if the cars were originally sold or ever registered in these Zone B areas:

Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

As with numerous Takata recalls from other automakers, Jaguar doesn't have replacement airbag inflators, so owners will first be notified about the XF recall in March 2017, then second notices will be mailed when parts are available.

Affected owners of Jaguar XF cars may call Jaguar at 800-452-4827 and ask about recall number J070.

Land Rover Range Rover

Land Rover says more than 8,700 model year 2012 Range Rover SUVs need new passenger-side frontal airbag inflators if the vehicles were originally sold or ever registered in Zone A areas.

Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan) and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

More Land Rover Range Rover SUVs are recalled, but this time for model year 2009 and for SUVs originally sold or ever registered in these Zone A locations:

Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Additionally, 2007-2008 Land Rover Range Rover SUVs will be repaired if originally sold or ever registered in these states:

Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

As the case of the Jaguar recall, Land Rover doesn't have replacement airbag inflators ready for dealerships. Range Rover owners will first be notified in March 2017 and then notified again when replacement parts are available.

If you own one of the recalled SUVs and have questions, contact Land Rover at 800-637-6837 and ask for information about recall number P082.
