I bought the new BMW X1 in April 2014 from a local dealer. In April 2015 this did happen twice: -tried to start the car and move the gear in DRIVE, the gear went automatically in 'Park' The door was closed! The car was moved to the dealer and they put new software in. About a week later the same happen again and the car is still with the dealer and they drove the car several times and it did not happen again. But I'm afraid that I get stuck again and I plan to ask them to give me another new X1. They also exchanged some parts, but can't find the reason for the problem. Interestingly is the following: when I put the gear in Neutral, We pushed the car for about only 3-5 yards (to make space for another car) and than tried again and there was no problem. This did happen twice, pushing the car for just a few yards. I would love to hear from you if you had a similar problem with an BMW X1. I'm also very concerned that during driving the gear would shift in 'PARK' The dealer employee told me the other day that also another X1 came in with a similar problem!!!) Kind regards, Manfred
