On the highway going on vacation , my car shuts off while traveling at 80 mph, and everything shuts off! This happened several times during 20 minutes, and was extremely dangerous, so I decided to stop and get the car towed.

The problem, apparently a common one with this BMW engine, is that the cylinder heads need to be replaced at a very significant cost. BMW quote was 6000 USD !

So in 2 years I have had two problems linked to clear design faults/BMW guidance on my car, a car that new costs 100,000 USD in Europe. The cost if I had had them fixed at BMW, was going to be 16,000 USD, for a car with 80,000 miles and for the second fault 95,000 miles !

Certainly these should have been covered by BMW, but not a penny! I used to be exclusive BMW, but now I shall change to Lexus.
