Purchased a new 2024 BMW xDRIVE 50e on 9/23/2024, then on 9/28/2023 X5 50e did not start due to Drivetrain Malfunction and had to be flat towed to dealer. Its been 108 days (1/16/2024) since X5 50e has been in for repairs due to BMU (Battery Management Unit).
With a new part from Germany, Service Department with BMWNA technical assistance have not been able to resolve problem. BMWNA has reluctantly initiated a Buyback of vehicle this month.
According to BMW forums like (Bimmerpost) this is a chronic and systematic problem with many owners registering the same problem and looking for solutions. BMW needs to initiate a Recall or send out a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) to all dealer to make them aware of this chronic problem.
