I bought this 2016 BMW Z4 only 3 months ago. I am generally happy with the car but not with the front bumper. It is far too low for the average curb height in America. I have already scraped the underside of the front bumper a few times already and usually nothing serious happens. Except for the last time. That curb was higher than usual and I heard the scraping. I backed up several inches. I did not inspect the bumper like I usually do and did not notice the lower right side grille missing until several days later. I took my Z4 to a BMW body repair shop and they showed me that the scraping damage to the right side of the bumper was more pronounced and assured me that it was responsible for the whole grille popping out. Why did it pop out? Because of a BMW engineering flaw which did not hold the grille in place with fasteners but only several clips.
