This is my wife’s car and I am confident she did not do anything personally to ruin this transmission so fast. It all started with the car seeming to have trouble deciding if it wants to switch gears and it shudders very aggressively mainly in 3rd and 4th gear. Took it to the dealership and was informed of issue and that this repair would cost 3000. This would be to drop transmission and rebuild by replacing torque converter with another OEM. So I also have the risk of this failing premature again and having to fork out another 3000 due to GM using cheap parts. I’m only 29 but grew up with automotive knowledge. Enough to have done all my own work on my cars since age 17.

Unfortunately, I don’t own a lift, nor have I ever worked on a transmission. And I have always heard from many older guys that most folks cannot rebuild a transmission properly. You’re usually just better off replacing it, especially with the price just to rebuild. I did some more digging online and found this issue is actually pretty common on Buick Enclave, Chevy Traverse, and GMC Acadia. I’m very upset that GM can package this car together and sell trash as new. It is absolute BS that an engine or transmission fails prior to even 100k miles. 150k is like the standard nowadays. This vehicle barely made it to 60k. I have given GM there last chance with this one. I will never again buy a GM manufactured vehicle. Will be sticking to the Japanese market until Tesla is more economical.
