I took my car into Betten Baker Buick in Midland for the transmission slipping. They told me since my check engine light didn't go on and they can't find a code nothing is wrong with it. I went round and round with them with no solution. I explained I brought the vehicle in for 2 other problems (side mirror sensor lights keep going on and tailgate foot opener not working) yet I was told the same thing, can't find a problem. After I brought it in for this transmission problem that they can't do anything about they miraculously found the problem with the tailgate. Does anyone have any solutions or ideas on what I can do with my transmission slipping I am very upset as this was not a cheap car.

Enclave SL 3.61

  • Automatic transmission
  • 5,000 miles

We first noticed the transmission slipping, especially in first gear, but would also happen between 2nd and 3rd, while on a trip south. When we got home, we took it into the dealership. They could not determine the problem and we have to take it back tomorrow. They said there is something definitely wrong. They did not mention any notices from GM about this problem, however, online I read where there has been at least three. We should know more tomorrow when they test drive it with the computer hooked up. This car cost a fortune and we should not have to put up with transmission problems! I will post any new information as we get it.

Update from Mar 6, 2019: Today the dealership updated transmission software and flushed the transmission and added new fluid. They said we may have to drive it up to 200 miles to see if the problem is fixed. This is what GM advised them to do. Read online that this is what GM was doing to fix the problem.

Update from Apr 1, 2019: After driving the car for about 300 miles, the transmission is working fine. No more slipping. This is after the dealership updated the software and changed the transmission fluid.

Enclave 1SL 3.6L,V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,000 miles

Less than 4000 on our new 2018 Buick Enclave when the 9 speed transmission started ‘stuttering’ in what I believe is 2 & 3rd gear. Down in Orange Beach Al for the winter and had to go an hour away for service.

Dealership first trip: Had just received a bulletin (we never received any notification of possible problems). Changed the transmission fluid. Was told to drive it 200 miles and problem should be resolved. Dealership in Pensacola was fantastic. Problem continued.

Dealership second trip: Latest bulletin. Crank shaft motion sensor was replaced. Was given a 2019 loaner car minus all the bells and whistles of ours—no ‘stuttering’ with that one. Problem continues:

Dealership third trip: Full diagnostic performed. Reset the shift pattern: Problem continues:

Contacted the selling dealership in Green Bay, WI and will be visiting them upon our return.

Enclave Essence AWD 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15,000 miles

It was a somewhat frustrating experience as the dealership first did nothing about the issue since no codes showed up relating to the transmission. I had to make a second trip separate of any other maintenance being done. They did acknowledge the problem at that point and also gave me a loaner vehicle while the repairs were being done. The vehicle is shifting fine now. But kind of concerned with the fact there was debris in the transmission so early in the vehicle's life.

Enclave Premium 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 4,100 miles

Accelerating from a stop it feels like it slips out of and back into gear. This is a 9 speed transmission so you're usually in 6th at 40mph. This happens in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. It is a obvious jerking with associated increase of RPM, roughly 100-400 depending on the gear and time out of gear. Sometimes it's four or five times per gear change and others it's only once or twice. Like it rapidly goes in and out of gear.

Took it to the Buick dealership service center. They found a service bulletin instructing them to flush the transmission. They did this and told me that it should stop after 200-300 miles driven. It has not stopped. Their only transmission guys was injured and is out for several weeks. Another GM dealership could not identify the problem. My guess is that this Chevy mechanic is not familiar with Buicks and/or didn't care to spend time on it. He only drove it for a couple miles in slow traffic and claimed he didn't feel anything wrong. They were a VERY busy Chevy service center.

I plan to take it back to the original Buick dealership once their transmission guy is back. I'm curious whether any other 2018 Enclave owners are experiencing the same problem.
