I've owned 3 recent Chevrolet's that use the ACDelco battery. This particular unit had the potential to become a really big problem. The battery never gave me any indication that it had a problem until one day I went to start the car to go to work. I turned the key to the ON position and the dash started going nuts. The gauges started flipping around and the lights flickered. It almost appeared to be a short in the dash. Anyway, after getting a jump (which almost didn't start the car either), I took the car to the local parts store and replaced the battery. Ok, not really a big deal, but apparently there was some residual damage that didn't show up until a little later. The first symptom was the speedo starting to jerk as it moved. Normally the needle moves very smooth. At this point, however, it started jerking as it moved up almost like the motor was sticking. As far as I know it was still accurate, but annoying. Next the fuel gauge started reading odd. It would drop faster than normal. The low fuel warning would come on and I'd still have 4 or more gallons of gas left in a 14 gallon tank. Before it would come on at 2 gallons. The last problem I had started right before I got rid of the car. It started to have issues starting. I could spin the starter, but the engine would never fire. I would have to turn the car off, then on again to get the ignition to work. Not consistent about it either. Cold or warm. Needless to say the car is now someone else's problem. Just fair warning that in my experience, ACDelco batteries are never good for more than 3 years and can fail with little or no warning. Apparently there is also the possibility of taking some components with it depending on how the battery fails... Of course, there's always the lack of information regarding the intermediate steering shaft lubrication that made life interesting with this car as well, but that is another story.

The AC Delco battery that came with the car failed suddenly without warning. It started fine everyday until today. I turned the key and nothing happened but the radio and lights still worked fine. A new battery and I'm back on the road again!
