Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety.

2006 Chevrolet Corvette Owner Comments

problem #1

Sep 192010

  • 27,000 miles

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette. While the contact was driving approximately 50 mph making a wide right turn, the "service active handling system" warning indicator displayed on the instrument panel and immediately the rear right wheel locked. The rear of the vehicle began to fishtail to the left; however, the contact then turned the steering wheel towards the left in order to gain control of the vehicle. There was a recall associated with the NHTSA campaign id number (steering: Column). The manufacturer was notified and they informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact experienced the identical failure as mentioned in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.
