Strong odor of gasoline around the car when the tank is full. Fuel cap replaced with new one. Odor disappears when less than half a tank is left and appears again when the tank is full.
Getting a strong smell of gasoline in the cabin and in the garage when parked. Cannot see any fuel on the ground, but the area under the fuel tank near the filler area is discolored and may be wicking to that area.
There is a strong smell of fuel coming from the vehicle. Particularly the rear drivers side. When the car is parked in a garage, the smell of fuel is pretty abundant. It is most noticable when the fuel tank is full or near full and while the smell is less intense when the tank is at lower levels, it is still present. This smell can be noticed while driving with the windows down as well, I think the air from around the vehicle gets pulled into the cockpit, during periods of driving and the only way to not have the fuel smell is to close the windows and run the climate system. I'd assume the climate control draws air in from the front if the vehicle which isn't where the smell is emitting from. I've tried cleaning everything I know how to and can safely reach, the smell of fuel doesn't go away. I also do not overfill when refueling my vehicle. Some research indicates several other owners of the same 2008 model year vehicles have had similar issues stemming from brittle plastic on the fuel pump cracking and spraying/ vaporizing fuel through these small cracks while the vehicle is running. Apparently, fuel can pool on top of the gas tank and drip down the side of the tank potentially dripping onto the hot exhaust. Obvious safety hazard.
This 2008 Corvette had a defective fuel tank module flange fuel and vapor leak per GM. When attempting to sell the vehicle the new purchaser found out from the dealer fuel vapor leaks when tank is filled over 1/2 way causing unhealthy issues when driven or sitting idle.
My car reeks of gas if tank is filled more than half tank full. Fuel sprays from high pressure line at the top of the left tank, runs down sides and collects in sheetmetal pan that holds tank up. This car has only 20,000 miles and was out of service from 2015 to 2019 with a massive electrical meltdown of the ABS system that completely destroyed the ecbm and the harness plug. After fixing the ABS system in 2019, and driving the car again, I noticed strong fuel smell inside the car. I understand GM had a recall on the fuel tank problem but it ended in 2018, before I started having the fuel odor problem.
Fuel fumes gas tank fills the garage and seeps into the home. I have to leave the vehicle out side and was a advised it was the fuel pump and not to drive until replaced. Told there was a recall and trying to find out how to get it repaired?
Strong fuel smell coming from vehicle while engine isn't running. Googled and was told it's a safety recall issue with this model car and that I should file a complaint.
The vehicle smells very strongly of gas and has bad lingering odor of gas when parked in garage. Less noticeable when parked outdoors, likely due to ventilation. It is a constant and ongoing problem.
I'm getting a strong odor of raw gasoline which seems to be coming from the gas tank area of my 2008 Corvette. I notice it as being especailly strong when the car has been sitting in the closed garage for a period of time
Stron fuel odor coming from the car when it is running or parked. Overnight, it will fill the garage with the smell of fuel which I believe is becoming a safety hazard. No noticeable leak, which leads me to believe it is located somewhere within the tank or fuel pump assembly.
Strong smell of fuel inside vehicle all the time, especially when tank is full. Visible fuel on top of left fuel tank, and stains of fuel running down sides of left fuel tank and into sheetmetal pan that supports tank.
There is evidence that fuel is leaking from the top of the fuel tank, and the car smells of gasoline very strongly. Car smells while sitting and while running.
I filled the car up with fuel, parked it in the garage. Next day I come out to start it, and a very very strong fuel smell was coming from the vehicle. No visible leaks on floor or vehicle from what I could see, but even in the cabin it smelt horrible. I am very concerned about it being a fire hazard and possible result in death. I know for sure there is a technical service bulletin in regards to this amongst C6 Corvettes but mine has expired since my vehicle is a 2008, and it only covers 10 years or 100,000 miles. Although I only have 46K miles. I went on the corvetteforums and to my surprise there have been thousands of people with the same exact symptoms and issue.
After filling tank with gasoline there is a leak. The fumes from the leak are very strong in my garage, requiring me to ventilate the area to prevent an explosion. I do not overfill. The auto-turnoff at the pump won't allow that. Apparently the leak is where the two tanks are connected.
Parked car in the garage after a short drive. I came back into the garage about 2 hours later and there was a very strong odor of gasoline. I wheeled out my power washer and law mower but the odor remained. I left everything out of the garage but the 2008 Corvette Z06 for three days and the odor seemed to be worse. After inspecting the 2008 Corvette Z06, the fumes were coming from the rear drivers side of the car. The fumes are so strong that I cannot trust any ignition source in the garage, so I moved the car outside but pushing the car out of the garage. The 2008 Corvette Z06 was parked in my personal garage the entire time until I pushed it out into my driveway.
