The Chevy Cruze is definitely a lemon. I have been a mechanic for 12 years and have yet to see such a POS. I bought the car as a gas saver to commute to and from work (like everyone else). I was excited to buy a Chevy, also excited it was an economical 4cyl (my other vehicle is an F-150), but seriously... you NEED TO BE A MECHANIC to drive this car!! I may have racked on 100k miles since I bought it in 2016 but... Chevy... you have got to be kidding me...
Complaint #5
Chevy... yes you... YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!! You didn't include a fuel filter on this car... A TURBO CAR!! REALLY?!?!? Fuel is disgustingly dirty... I know... I know... gas stations try to keep it clean but debris and gunk still gets in the fuel. NORMALLY, a car would have an external fuel filter to keep your fuel system components clean and safe. But NOOOOOO... not the Cruze. This car does not have a fuel filter AT ALL!! Only the debris filter is in the factory fuel pump, which is only designed to rake out major debris. I was surprised to learn this at 100k mi and looking to replace it as a preventative.
What this means is... eventually... I need to shell out MORE cash for new fuel injectors once the old ones get clogged... not to mention all the issues dirty fuel can cause to other components. But what am I supposed to do... shell out MORE cash to fabricate an external filter to prevent engine performance problems?!... oh wait... I already have those... Don't buy this car people... unless you want a fancy car for your local football team to smash up during a homecoming rally.. that is the only thing this car is good for.
