Approaching driveway and suddenly the speedometer showed I was doing 90 mph and I knew this was incorrect as I was slowing down to make a turn off of a highway. Now the speedometer may work correctly for a few miles and then it shows that I am driving a speed above what is allowed or what I know is untrue. Took to a mechanic and he says the speedometer motor needs to be replaced. For past 3 years the check tire sensor monitor comes on when making a long distance trip. For past 2 years the passenger airbag light comes on whenever anyone sits on passenger side. Mechanic says cluster panel needs to be replaced. This vehicle will be traded for something else as I feel unsafe in it now.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the passenger's side air bag warning lamp failed to illuminate despite the fact that the passenger's seat was occupied. Also, the contact stated that the fuel gauge would often surpass the full or empty mark erroneously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the air bag module and instrument panel needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 54,000 and the current mileage was 88,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that when a passenger is seated in the front passenger seat, the air bag indicator illuminates repeatedly. She stated that there has to be a weight limit in order for the indicator to dim. The dealer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 07V344000 (air bags:frontal:sensor/control module). The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure mileage was 22,039 and current mileage was 22,070. Updated 3/12/09 the traction control activated on dry pavement. It made steering the vehicle next to impossible. The headlights had to be replaced. The all wheel light illuminated. Updated 03/16/09.

I had 2 Chevy Equinox 2007 model, loaded. First vehicle repurchased due to multiple episodes of stabilitrak failure, turn signals quit working, radio problems, passenger system airbag not working, and finally failure of main airbag system. Given exact twin of first car, as thought that car was just a lemon. 2nd Equinox had 2 episodes of stabilitrak failure, and a new steering column placed, and then had total system failure of the steering, brakes, gas, stabilitrak, and airbag system while driving the vehicle. I had absolutely no control over any of these systems! you could turn my steering wheel 360 degrees, and the wheels never moved, the brakes didn't work, the gas didn't work, and all alarms were going off that the systems, including the airbags were not working. Luckily, no one was injured as I had just begun making a turn into roadway and all vehicles coming at me both ways were able to swerve, and the car was going slow enough and over a slight incline that it rolled to a stop just before hitting a steel light post. This car was also repurchased. Something is very wrong in the engineering of this vehicle and I am concerned for all the other people owning/driving this vehicle.
