Chevy will not cover free repairs on Equinox, but will cover some other autos like Arcadia, etc. They know its their fault but are covering their butts. All auto shops in my area will not or can not do the work. You need a special tool to do the job, the pump is connected to the TIMING CHAIN!!! Who designs an engine that the dealer takes five plus hours to fix a water pump?
The dealer said to me he feels sorry (REALLY!!!) but he has to tear 1/2 of the engine apart to fix this!!! I can almost buy a new engine for 3500.00 dollars. The car has 60,000 miles on it. For a couple of thousand more, a new engine? If the repair is done wrong, the timing belt or chain will stretch, and you will not know until another major repair. Who the BLEEP designs a water pump that runs off the timing chain??? Other autos have design problems, but in my opinion this has to one of the biggest BLEEP BLEEPS ever!!!
