The engine light came on, on the way home from work and started running rough. I was due for an oil change and took my vehicle to my mechanic on Thursday. According to the codes, I needed a new intake and exhaust solenoid, as well as a crank sensor. He changed those parts, but it did not resolve the problem. When checking the oil, he discovered that the engine was burning an excessive amount of oil. So much that the oil didn't show up on the dipstick. He added an oil treatment to oil, ran the car for a few minutes, then drained the oil, changed the filter, added new oil and reset the codes in the PCM. It was still running rough, but he thought after driving it, it would clear up.
