The car one day started idling very fast and sounded like it was ready to take off. This started becoming dangerous because it would happen in the middle of traffic! A few days later the check engine light came on, and I assumed it had something to do with the high idle. I took it to Advanced Auto and they read me the codes that came up. 3 codes for "idle air control, system revolutions per minute higher than expected" They told me the idle air control valve needed to be replaced. I then drove it home and lost almost all engine power, I plan on fixing this problem soon.
