rear taillight gasket leaks water into the trunk

The problem existed for these models back in 2014. GM issued Program Bulletin 14047. Fix was a slightly beefier gasket. Went from 6.5 mm to 10 mm. Poor design. Water runs down trunk channels, over the tail light assemblies and the gasket is the only barrier to water getting into the trunk. My car is 1 1/2 yrs old.
