brake lights come on for no reason ,also shuts the cruise off a real pain in the $ss , i heard there may be a recall. sure hope they include 2004 malibu. and the rack-n-pinion really sucks on these cars, other than that very nice cars with good gas mileage.
First, my brake lights would not come on at all. I took it to the dealership where they said it was an electrical problem. When I picked it up, I noticed that my brake lights never turned off. As soon as I started my car, they would be on; even when my foot is not on the brake pedal. I returned it to the dealership where they said they fixed the problem again. Now I have more than one problem: sometimes they work ok, then the next time I get in they wont turn off, and sometimes when I start my car, if the brake lights are on when I go to take it out of park and put my foot on the brake, it makes a loud noise and they turn off. But, after 5 seconds exactly, they turn back on again. If I'm driving, I put my foot on the brake and they will blink off, then blink back on. After I take my foot off, they are off completely for 5 seconds then turn back on. Its driving me (and im sure the drivers behind me) nuts.
THESE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN THE PEDAL IS NOT PUSHED, THEY GO OFF WHEN YOU PUSH THE BRAKE. There are times when they blink on and off like the hazard light are on. The mechanics and dealer ships has no idea what is causing this.
