Right now I have the service ESC and service traction light on again for the 3rd time. I took each time to Chevy classic in grapevine tx and they told me no codes the 1st time, took it to clay cooley in irving--light came on then no codes they showed. Today 4-15=16 light came on again and I took it to classic Chevy and they found 3 codes this time. They say I will have to pay for this! I should not since there was an open recall on 5/14/2014 for 2010 Malibu's. my car is doing this now !@!!@ it needs to be fixed at no charge to me!! I feel like this is the most dangerous car on the road for me and my daughter. I don't want to be a statistic if we have a car crash and it was all because Chevy kept making excuses to not fix my crap car for me. The other recall was the brake system not illuminating I got that letter a little too late. Someone rear ended me in Oct 2012 while I was stopped at a red light. Maybe those stupid back brake lights were not working then!!!!!! someone at classic or clay cooolye Chevy needs to fix this ESC light on my car and fix all the recalls for free. I also have an eps recall letter that was sent to me but someone at Chevy told me the light has to come on for them to fix it. This is ridiculous. My car needs to be fixed for all these problems it has no matter if the light is on or not. But the light is on for service ESC and traction right now!@ GM or Chevy needs to pay for it and fix this car. The consumer stated the dealer did not completely fix the problem. They only lubricated and she continued to experience problems with the brakes, service light and ESC light. Also, the front axle was leaking.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the service ESC warning indicator illuminated intermittently. In addition, the brake light illuminated without the pedal being depressed. The contact stated that the brake light stopped functioning after the pedal was depressed. In addition, the traction and cruise control failed. The failure occurred approximately six times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal position sensor needed to be replaced and the brake switch needed to be calibrated. The switch was calibrated; however, the failure recurred. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number" 14V252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. Updated 05/11/16

My 2010 Chevy Malibu driver side front door will not open. Driver door will not open from the inside of the vehicle after the doors are unlocked or from the outside by pulling on the handle. It does not matter if you unlock from inside using unlock/lock button on door or outside using key fob, the door will not open. Major safety issue in the event of an accident or an emergency, the driver or passengers whose doors are affected will not be able to get out of the affected door. Tried penetrating oil and grease to lubricate actuator and has not fixed problem. Also happens randomly, does not matter temperature or weather conditions. No current recalls out on this issue, and repair costs range upwards of $350. The pull handle inside the car feels like it is not engaging with the components to unlatch the door, and the same feeling is observed when trying to open the car on the outside using the outside door handle.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. While driving 65 mph, the check engine, electronic stability control, and traction control warning lights illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle began to jerk but stopped at higher speeds. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not found. On another occasion, the vehicle jerked before it stalled. The vehicle failed to start and was towed to the contact's residence. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V252000 (electrical system, electronic stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control). 2010 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes in regards to ESC light continuously illuminating and trac control switch issues. The consumer stated after the part was replaced, the ESC light illuminated again. The consumer continued to report the trac service light was still displayed. Brake lights were working in reverse after recall repairs were done so Chevy charged me full price for diagnostics because they said that the recall repairs were already done, so there was nothing they could do. We replaced brake switch. A month later problem persisted, Chevy dealership charged $50 for relearning brake position, even though that was all supposed to have been fixed in recall repairs. Brake lights are still not working properly and the traction control/ESC light is on, and cruise control doesn't work. I am now taking it back to dealership and they are charging me an additional $50 just to take another look at it. I feel I shouldn't be charged for any of this since it all should have been taken care of during the repairs done for recall #: 14V252000. This is a dangerous manufacturing error that GM should be acknowledging and repairing at no cost to the owners. I know I cannot be the only one suffering this issue especially after reading numerous customer complaints online.

The car has consistent service ESC / service traction light warnings that cause multiple problems. The most serious now is that the back brake lights buen constantly as if I'm riding my brakes. It also disengages the traction control. This has gone on for 3 years, 7 repairs and it's now out of warranty. I took it most recently to capitol Chevrolet in austin. They simply replaced the same malfunctioning part again. I have case complaint with GM, but no resolution yet. It occurs now every time I start the car. It used to be intermittent

My car wouldn't start, so I looked it up on the internet. The anti-theft light was on, it told me to unplug my battery so the car would reboot the system. I did that, then it started. It happens now about once a week. I have called the dealership and that year there is no recall on it, but previous years it was. I have no notice when it will happen, the car is parked. It just won't turn on.

I have only been driving this car for 5 months. Purchased used at dealership. I do not drive far. All of a sudden ESC and "service traction" shows up on my dash. My rear break light turns on and I'm not touching the break. The "service traction ESC" shows up more and more frequently. To me, this is a big safety issue and I see that my car is doing the same as others but GM told me via phone call, "only certain VIN numbers are recalled". somethings wrong here. Is it going to take someone to be severely injured or worse for this to get handled" I believe in american made cars, but why aren't the rest of us with this make and model and year also in this recall" we are having the same problems! all I was doing while driving was driving 45 mph on a straight flat road, where speed limit was 50mph!

I was stopped at a stop sign to turn and when I accelerated a quick flash of the service ECM message came on and then disappeared, but the car stalled out in the middle of the intersection. When I tried to restart the car, it would turnover, run for 2 seconds and then die. I had the car towed to my house, where we charged the battery and took it over to autozone to have the electronics scanned, where it showed 3 codes: U0121, P0106, P0621. They scanned the battery and alternator, and all came up with a clean bill of health (so to speak). Upon reading online it looks like this was an issue in Malibu's 2004-2009 (which was recalled), and I believe they never fixed the issue and now 2010's may be affected. My worry is that this will happen again and it will be at a busier intersection or worse yet, on the highway.

One night I was leaving work and I realized that my passenger side blinker was not working, indicating that my bulb was out. But by the time I made it home it was working again. A few days later I noticed that my blinker was not working on the driver's side. I found that when my lights are on the park light or blinker does not work on the passenger side of the car. When the lights are off the blinker or brake light does not work on the driver's side. Also when the lights are on the temperature gauge on the console flashes with numbers then with the lines. I found that there was a recall on the 2010 Malibu with the BCM body control module. That the brake lights luminate with out you stepping on the brakes. What needs to be known is that is also affects the blinkers, brake and park lights. It can also burn out your bulbs. It is a very dangerous situation because I take a chance on making a left or right turn and changing lanes without getting hit. I have small children and I pray every day that we make a safe journey. That is my only means of transportation.

While I was driving to work I noticed that the brake light in the rear window was only working on an intermitent basis. I had recall work done on my car in October of 2014 under recall 14V252000 or Chevy recall 13036 then in mid July of this year my car started doing what they said that it might do in the recall letter. On August 3 I took my car to cargill Chevrolet in putnam, ct. To see why it was doing this I thought that it should be covered under the recall. They then replaced a switch on the brake pedal at a cost of $272.03 that they said would fix the problem. The next day it was doing the same thing so I took it back and they said that the whole bracket in the rear window needed to be replaced at a cost of $402.40. This seems to fix the problem. They said neither repair was covered under the recall. I was wondering what your opinion was and if you had any other reports of defective recall work on this recall. Thank you

We got up this morning, went to get into our car and as I tried to unlock it I noticed my keyless entry would not unlock the door. I asked my boyfriend if his was working, and his wouldn't open the car either. So I unlocked the door manually and no alarm sounded. The dash didn't light up as it usually does either. I tried starting my car, the idiot lights came on as did my stereo, but the car never tried to turn over. We had no interior lights, no headlights, and not even hazards!! I thought hazards we're supposed to work in emergencies but apparently I was mistaken. Thank god we weren't broke down in the middle of a road or freeway. I've noticed other years of this particular car have a recall for an ignition switch, why not this one? because their stories sound just like mine. This car is being towed to the shop tomorrow morning. If it is the ignition switch, Chevy will be hearing from me.
