On Monday 11/12/18 I took my daughter to school and no problem with the steering. Then when I went to pick her up, I could hardly turn. It takes two hands to turn the steering wheel. Are there any fuses that may be changed to fix this problem or what has to be done?

Power Steering cuts off. Will work after shutting off the ignition and restarting the car. Steering shakes when stopped and feels shaky while driving.

Malibu LTZ 4 cyl

The steering failed as my daughter was driving home from college. Luckily she was only blocks from the house when it happened, but the steering shut down on her while she turned a corner and killed the engine. The car went up onto the curb. Thank goodness no one was hurt as it was a busy 4 lane intersection. Took the car in to Jensen Tire of Lincoln and they said it was the steering column that had to be replaced. They told me when they looked up the parts online that Chevrolet had an entire assembly kit with it, which meant they had obviously had previous problems, but not a recall yet. In other words, Chevrolet is failing to follow through on something of significant and dangerous issues. In due time, I will expect to be reimbursed by Chevrolet!
