So I was driving to work and out of nowhere i heard a loud POW noise i slowed down listened to my card and everything seemed ok so i went about my buisness. I didnt realize that the rear window of my 03 monte carlo was shattered until I made it to work. After checking it out some more I noticed that the wires connecting to the defroster strips on the window were melted so that noise i heard was the sound of extreme electric current going through the wires and heating the window up so much it exploded. had a new window put in for 300 dollars which my insurance did not cover, called my local chevy dealer to see if this was a common issue or something and apparently no one has ever heard of this happening. When I searched online I found out that I am not the only person who has had this issue with the same year make and model vehicle. My wires are not hooked up to the new window as they are melted but i had the window changed out a week ago yesterday and i am just barely starting to smell burning wire smell through the air vents when i turn them on. Im not sure if this is a manufacturer/Dealer issue or what but its obviously not a freak accident like everyone keeps telling me if im not the only person who's vehicle its happened to.
