This is the second time for this problem on the same vehical. The fuel gauge intermittently will read empty and then read the actual fuel level. Often up to 10 minutes for the gauge to read the actual fuel level. This time there is no extended warrenty to pay the repair. I may have to the repair myself to keep the repair cost affordable. The job will be extensive since the fuel tank will have to be removed to replace the fuel gauge sending unit.
When the fuel gauge indicator reads that the fuel is almost on E and after filling up the gas tank when it is topped off or when more than 25 gallons is added to the tank the fuel gauge indicator reads empty when pulling away from the service station and then bounces from a full indication to an empty indication until a certain amount of fuel is used up in the tank. I believe it to be a float problem inside the tank which indicates the amount pumped into the tank. If I only put 25 gallons out of a possible 30 gallon amount leaving a 5 gallon void in the tank the indicator works properly. I can't top off the tank or it will respond this way each and every time I fill up.
