Truck was running fine all day. When I came home and parked it, and tried to restart it an hour later, nothing happened. The starter relay was tested and works and the battery is good. Tried to jump start, but no go there either. Headlights all work with no dimming, fuel pump seems to work, cab lights all work, no warning lights on dash. What's wrong with this thing?
Update from Nov 27, 2010: Hey folks. The problem with the truck was the starter solenoid. I bought a new starter at the local auto parts store for $170 and installed it and 2 hours later it was ready to go. It started right up and was very strong to boot. I suppose the starter solenoid could have been replaced, but that would make no sense as the solenoid and starter are one piece. So pretty much, if your 99 Silverado doesn't start and you have no battery or relay problems, that's one of the first places I would look.
