I have been experiencing a voltage fluctuations on my voltmeter for about three years now. The voltage will go up to 15.6-16 volts and after a few minutes or miles drop down to just under 14 volts. It may stay at 14 volts or go back up to 15-16 volts. This has not seem to be a problem for the most part until I lost an alternator a year ago. The replacement is working fine but the voltage problem did NOT end with the new alternator. I have measures the battery voltage when I see an over voltage and it is reading the same higher voltages.
I added a digital voltage monitor to the cigarette lighter and it confirms my voltage readings. Everything on the truck works fine but the voltage to me seems too high. I have not been able to fine the cause or solution. I have taken the vehicle it for troubleshooting and have been told all is working as should be. I have not choice now to either keep driving the truck, which I like with only 100,000 miles on it, or sell and find another.
