Prior to 2005 GM trucks allowed the owner to choose from three auto door lock options.
1. The doors auto lock when you put it in gear.
2. The doors auto lock when you reach 8-15 mph.
3. No auto door lock.
Beginning with the 2005's the third option was removed. Now the doors auto lock everytime. The truck makes the decision for you. I understand why some owners will want the auto locks but I and many others do not. It can be a huge inconvenience.
