On November 25, 2013 my wife surprised me with a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 4WD, Z71, LTZ crew cab pick-up, this was my dream truck I’ve been looking to purchase for months and it only had 54,000 miles. The truck was owned by an elderly couple in their 80’s and the husband had passed away five months before my wife and I purchased the truck. They hadn’t hauled or towed anything with the truck and it was clean as a new penny. As I stated this is my dream truck.

After purchasing the truck I put it through the Maryland State Inspection, which it passed with flying colors. I drove the truck for seven or eight weeks and treated it like a new baby and put almost 2000 miles before hearing a loud pop or cracking noise (coming from the transmission) the truck on New Year’s Day 2014, while on a trip with my wife in Ocean City Maryland. On January 2, 2014, I was able to drive the truck over to the Chevy dealer in Lewes DE. I left the truck and had to rent a car from Enterprise to get back home several hundred miles away. The dealer called two days later to tell me I needed a new transmission because the original transmission was ruined. They stated the transmission had burnt clutches and the forward spring was broken and recommended a CERTA remanufactured transmission for the cost of $3157.46. I agreed to replace the transmission because I needed my truck back, but was extremely disappointed in the Chevy product failed with so low mileage and how these trucks are built. Chevy states, more initial quality awards than any other brand. I know for a fact this truck was babied and NOT abused in anyway and the transmission shouldn’t have gone out. I spoke with several transmission mechanics who stated that the 2007 has major issues with their transmission braking down and Chevrolet should make a recall.

I would appreciate someone from the Chevrolet corporation to contact me and discuss.
