CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Silverado has no defect trends, which is a very good sign now that it's more than a few years old.
A couple model years back, the 2007 Silverado has an oil consumption defect at low mileage (~50k miles) — so far there's only a very few reports of the same problem with the 2009 Silverado.
The 2009 Silverado received poor side impact ratings on models not equipped with the optional side air bags.

I have asked my Chevrolet Dealer numerous times to take my air bag out of the steering wheel since I received the recall notice in 2016, and they just put me off!
Finally a month ago they laughed at me at Allen Gwynn Chevrolet in Glendale, Ca, so I got really angry. I have seen a friend get badly injured with a black eye from an air bag explosion, she looked like she fought Mike Tyson and lost!
I got a body shop to help me take the air bag out. My steering wheel now looks weird with wires etc, and the message center says "service the air bag" so I can't tell what my mileage is or if a tire is low etc.
I asked Mike the manager at Allen Gwynn to disable the propellant, He said he won't work on a vehicle that does not have an air bag! I contacted Chevrolet because they gave out their "helpful" phone number, so I filed a report with a VIN number etc. They told me they had an injunction that they did not have to fix air bags!
My friend has a Honda van, They fixed her air bag right away. My assistant has a Toyota. They fixed his air bag and even gave him a free rental car while they fixed it!
What is wrong with GM? Do they not care if they kill or seriously injure their customers to save them time and money???
