CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic is fairly new & is already showing an early trend of transmission problems.
Owners report hesitation when shifting & grinding/hard shifting into gears. Some dealers are calling the condition "normal". Another owner reported his dealership replaced the transmission under warranty, but the new transmission had the same exact grinding problem. Design defect?

I bought this vehicle as a GM Certified Per Owned with 2,233 miles on it. The second day I noticed that when placing the vehicle into reverse, the transmission was grinding. I took the vehicle to my local GM Dealership and was advised the noise was normal and there was nothing they could do about it. The dealership I purchased the vehicle from failed to communicate with me in regards to the issue. I called the as soon as I noticed the problem. They have failed to provide any time of guidance to resolve the issue. I have plans to take the vehicle to them tomorrow and drop the vehicle off with no plans to return for it until it is fixed!
