I may have bought the car in the complaint of the Sonic from Akron.... or they may just be a coincidence, but I bought my car used in Akron in 2015!!!! Sonics may just have issues!!! My problems started about 7-09-2018. My emergency light came on so I stopped the car. It needed a whole thing of antifreeze. I took it to the car dealership first thing Monday morning. They couldn’t find a leak or anything wrong. From that point on, we would get an occasional smell of antifreeze. They still couldn’t find anything.

Then around 11-12-2018 my car started to not warm up on the automatic start. It would start to warm up when I put the car in drive and then when the car was in idle at a stop light or in park the heat would start to blow out like air conditioning. As soon as I went back to drive it would warm up again, sometimes it would blow so hot that I thought it would catch fire. I again took it to the shop, but somehow magically fixed itself before they could even look at it. It didn’t blow cold air at all. I was in disbelief and still believe that they did something to it.

Now it’s 10-23-2019 and I’ll be darned if it’s not happening all again. I took my son to school and put the car in park to watch him enter the building and my heater started to blow out cold air like an air conditioner. As soon as I put it in drive , the heat started to work again, and I’ll be dammed if as soon as I pulled in the driveway and put the car into park... you guessed it... the heat was cold again!!!! But that’s just my imagination, right????? Now my warranty has just expired last month. Didn’t know I was going to have this issue last month since it was so warm. I didn’t need my heater or defroster last month!!!

Car is trouble. It overheats and can't use air-conditioning. If you sit still with engine running it overheats.

7th trip for a/c blowing warm air. I did just what I said I was going to do. I pulled into Glockner Chevrolet here in Ironton, Ohio and had Steve, service manager to go for a ride with me. We didn't make it a block when the hot air would have choked you on a 97 degree day. He definitely felt my imagination that day. Damn I'm good. Well he told me he had no answer for it and that he would be calling GM for their assistance on this issue. It's been 3 days and they still have the car. I called to check on the situation and was informed that they have no answers for me yet. ticktock ticktock. I am sick of paying $349 a month for this car that is in the shop more than what I have it. To be paying that kind of money for a new car and have no cold a/c is crazy. My opinion, they have never known what the issue was or is and they have been guessing thus far.

5th trip for a/c blowing warm air. This time they found the car low on freon due to their machine being out of calibration.

Recharged the a/c system to correct charge using another a/c machine and test drove to verify repairs.

I informed them that the a/c was blowing warm air and getting a musty smell in the car. Occasionally it will kick in and blow cold for a very short while. They found an inlet tube seal leaking due to faulty seal. Replaced AC evap. Inlet tube seal and evac and recharged system.
