Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

  • 33,000 miles

In our 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe the dash is cracked just above the passenger side airbag which could cause serious injury in a crash. The interior wiring must be faulty, the passenger window sometimes won't roll down from drivers side, but sometimes it will. Also our battery mounts different than what is called for in automotive centers (top mount, not side) making it difficult to order proper battery for this vehicle.

Chevy Tahoe dash cracked and began breaking apart. Crack above passenger airbag that would likely result in sharp projectiles if airbag deployed. Crack also occurred above instrument cluster. Dash was replaced in January 2012 and then cracked and had to be replaced again approx. 1.5 years later in 2013. This is a major defect. A google search of Chevy Tahoe/Suburban cracked dash will illustrate the extent of this defect.

I am concerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants. The dash in the truck cracked out of no where and is very poorly made. This should be replaced asap by automaker.

The dash cracked on the passenger side at the corner of where the passenger airbag deploys. Approximately two weeks ago a larger crack appeared on the driver side dash above the instrument cluster. GM knows this is a rampant issue but fails to show integrity and take responsibility for the thousands of cracked dashes in Tahoe, Yukon, Avalanche, Sierra, and Silverado trucks.

At 90,000 miles, all of my rear bearings were bad and had to have them replaced, basically a whole new rear end. Luckily it was covered under the 100,000 mile power train warranty. I have only towed a trailer twice with my Tahoe, so obviously a defect somewhere. Second issue is that there are 2 cracks on the dashboard; one in the area of the passenger side air bag, and the other on the backside of the drivers side steering column. These both occurred about the same time, around 100,000 miles. Obviously this is a widespread issue. GM needs to be replacing these dashboards on their dime and not expecting the customer to foot the bill for this defective product. It is definitely a safety issue. Should the airbag system have to deploy, pieces of plastic would become projectiles that would harm anyone inside the vehicle. The third issue I have, that began today at 109,000 miles, are involving the instrument panel. The speedometer did not work, the light that indicates which gear you are in did not come on, and the seat belt light and air bag light were on even though I was wearing my seat belt. I'm not sure what is causing this, and I'm hoping it is just a bad fuse. I am so dicouraged with my Tahoe lately. All of these little things going wrong have really made me leary of buying another GM product, and I've been excited about the 2015 redesign. Not so much now.

Upon purchasing my 2007 Tahoe used I noticed 2 cracks on dashboard. The one on the passenger side is cracked at corner of airbag which is concerning due to an airbag deployment shards of plastic could be turn ed into projectiles. Noticed there are many, many of the same vehicles with identical cracks and locations of them. Thanks

There are dashboard cracks in my 2007 Chevy Tahoe. One of the cracks is 2" long, near the passenger side airbag. I have done extensive research on this problem to see if its an anomaly. It isn't. I am a member of a facebook group who currently has 250 members and have the exact same defect. It appears this is a manufacturing defect. The cracks are in the same location among hundreds, if not thousands of consumers. I am worried the crack on the passenger side of the dash is a hazard if the air bag is deployed. I can imagine shards of plastic causing serious injury to the passenger. The cost to replace the dash is between $1,000-$1,500. There are members of the facebook group who have had 3 dashes replaced because GM refuses to fix the defect. Please refer to this youtube video where it shows the cracks on several GMC and Chevy autos."V=3ikscklf7G8 please see the facebook group for more confirmation and information on the defect. Https:// currently the NHTSA has 98 complaints filed online relating to the dash cracks, but they have yet to initiate an investigation. also my service air bag light continues to come up and they tell me they cant find the problem and I asked if the crack in the dash on air bag affects that and they also replied they did not know that the code just says somewhere on the passenger side and now I will have to wait until something brakes.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the front and rear side air bags deployed erroneously. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was advised that the insurance company should inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 75,000.

I noticed a couple of large cracks in the dash after purchase. This vehicle is prone to dash cracks due to faulty plastic (online research). I'm concerned there may be a safety hazard with the crack around the airbag.

I noticed a crack on the dashboard above the instrument cluster and another next to the passenger airbag. My concern regarding the crack near the passenger airbag is whether this will effect the deployment of the airbag in case of an accident. The crack above the instrument cluster keeps spreading, this concerns me as well since a piece may break off and cause internal damage to the components inside the dashboard. I spoke to the service manager at my local Chevrolet dealership. He admitted that there is a problem with these dashboards and hoped that a recall would be issued by the manufacturer. He suggested I contact GM about this issue and see if I qualify for a "goodwill dash replacement". I sent an email to GM. I spoke to 3 GM reps before I spoke to the rep assigned to my case, [xxx]. [xxx] said that they are unable to provide any assistance under the goodwill program because I am the second owner. I advised her that there are many others that have the same issue. (this can be referenced at ). I believe GM is absolutely aware of this issue, otherwise why would they even offer this "goodwill dash replacement" program. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

There are 2 cracks in the dash. One crack is 2" long, near the passenger side airbag. The other crack is 7" long, driver side, "hump" above the instrument cluster. I have done extensive research on this problem to see if its an anomaly. It isn't. I am a member of a facebook group who has the exact same problem with their Tahoe and similar models. Please refer to this link for a visual please see facebook group below for more information and background as well it would appear this is a manufacturing defect. The cracks are in the exact same location amongst hundreds, if not thousands, of consumers. I am worried the crack on the passenger side of the dash is a hazard if the air bag is deployed. The cost to replace the dash is between $1,000-$1,500.

I was traveling on a state highway to an event. This was the second day of the event, so I had traveled the same road the day prior. I slowed to cross railroad tracks. While crossing the tracks, the front and middle side airbags deployed on both the driver's and passenger's sides. The force of the deployment also cracked areas around the interior walls and blew out the rear overhead light. I am not sure exactly what, but something struck me on the top of my head at the time of the deployment. Fortunately, I had slowed to cross the tracks or there could have been a different outcome.

Car has not been in an accident. Just concerns like so many other GM customers. There is a crack that is at the airbag, on the passenger side, that keeps getting bigger. Concerned that airbag might deploy, or not work at all. Have contacted GM corporate several times telling them about the same issue that other customers are having in this same area. When contacting GM they tell me that they have not heard of this issue, but there are so many customers that have complain online. I was told to take my vehicle to the dealership for further inspection and was told that this could have happen by using armorall, in that case the whole console would be cracked and not in certain places where all other customers are seeing the same exact cracks. Actually the entire console is affected with several cracks. If GM was not aware, how come some of their customers consoles have been changed out by the dealership? more than once. They tell me because of the model and the mileage of my vehicle it would not qualify. This is a material issue plus a safety issue if it affects the stability of an airbag. There are even videos on U tube that shows a visual picture.

I notice a crack on my dash board in the seam of the air bag front left side- and then inspected the dash board to find another crack over the steering hump of the dash board heading down toward the vent of the dash board. As I researched this issue I have found several owners with the same issue some under warranty and others not. The issue is the dash board is cheaply made and may cause severe damage if in an accident and since it is located near the air bag it could cause injury.

My dash is cracking in two places above my airbags. The cracks are causing my dash to bulge. It has been brought to my attention that numerous 2007 Tahoe's and Yukon's all have dash cracks in the same areas. I have contacted GM about this problem and have not received any help. I am worried it will affect my airbags deploying.

The dash has cracked behind the passenger side air bag for no apparent reason. I am afraid if the bag deploys it will throw the piece as a projectile and hit the passenger. Many complaints on the internet, GM is selectively assisting in repair. I was informed they would not help me because I have an aftermarket radio and alarm, neither of which is anywhere near the passenger side.

My wife was driving down the street at 5:30 am to go to a charity event 5K run. She was going 40mph, on a street that had no traffic on it that early in the morning, when out of the blue, all the side curtain airbags deployed. I contacted GM central office, they did an investigation, then told me that they were not at fault, that the computer on the Tahoe said it was about to be in an accident so the airbags deployed. I told him the computer was evidently wrong since my wife was not about to be in an accident. He said that the Tahoe functioned normally as it should. I asked him again if it was normal for airbags just to deploy on their own with no evidence of an accident and if the computer "said" so, then evidently the computer is wrong and faulty and something needs to be done before someone gets killed.. he said GM will not admit any fault and they will not pay for it. I am seeking legal counsel for a class action lawsuit. If this had happened in the middle of the day on a crowded interstate, I have no doubt that there would have been a horrific wreck and people seriously injured if not killed. GM needs to own up and take responsibility and do a recall.

The air bag light came on and we took it to the dealership. The dealers tested it out and replaced the sensor and it still did not fix it. Now they want us to pay a lot of money to run the test and have them figure out what is wrong. I am reading a lot of blogs and complaints about the same thing and I can't figure out why they haven't issued a recall especially since these airbags will not deploy.
