Engine stops with no warning, making the power steering & brakes stop working. Mopar repair center could not duplicate the problem. When I picked it up, it happened in their parking lot while in my car waiting for it to warm up.

On 9/3/21 my car stalled twice while driving, no warning, no lights, then it restarted on it's own. I was in the middle of a turn with other cars approaching my car, could have gotten hit by another car. Unable to steer and horn with a low beep. On 9/4/21 St 7:30am while driving to take car to get checked out I thought I saw a spark where aux cable was inserted, I unplugged the cable, no burning smell or any other things seen.

I have owned this car for 3 years. A year after owning it I began having issues with the engine shutting down while driving. It is random and happens with no warning, no check engine light or any indication that it's going to happen. It has happened in traffic where I was almost rear ended by a semi because when the engine dies I lose power steering and can't get it off the road. Sometimes it will restart right away other times it takes an hour or more. This has happened while on the highway and city streets. Most commonly it happen when I have to take my foot off the accelerator and then reapply, like slowing down for a car turning in front of me, taking a turn and taking an exit ramp. This has happened many times over the last couple years. I have had it at a dealership and they can't diagnose a problem or recommend a fix. I have also been in contact with the manufacturer and they told me there was nothing they could do and I would just have to drive the car and take it back in if the problem worsens. That is not an option because it is either going to get me stranded on the side of the road or in an accident.

In July 2019, my 2013 Chrysler 200, that I purchased brand new in 2014 just stopped. Wouldn't go forward or backward. I was stuck in the middle of the road on a steep hill. I went from 45 mph to nothing without any warning. No warning lights ever came on and the car wasn't acting any different than it had the million times I had taken it to the dealership for it being jerky when taking off. They repeatedly told me there were no issues found and the car was fine. I was and still am the soul owner of this car that didn't even have 85,000 miles on it. I spoke with Chrysler several times about my warranty and the now bad transmission. They told me to take it to the closest Chrysler dealership. Which I had it towed there since the car was no longer drivable. I was contacted a few days later by the service department telling me it was, in fact the transmission and would need a new transmission. This car was out of warranty by 30 days give or take and was still under warranty by miles. But since it's an either-or warranty, I was now out of a car that I had paid almost $30,000 for, unless I wanted to go in half with Chrysler and pay them an additional $2113.44 to replace or fix the current transmission. The transmission is a closed transmission but didn't require any service until 96,000 miles per the owner's manual. Had I had, my then 9-month-old grandson with me when the car went from 45 mph to nothing and a vehicle had been behind me, we both could have been seriously injured or even killed. The car never gave any warning that there was an issue before there was an issue. I find this completely unsatisfactory as a parent, nana, and quite frankly a human. Had I known of this website when this happened, I would have reported it then! hope you are able to make this kind of situation not happen to someone else.

All of sudden I felt a jolt in the gear shift and then I lost power steering and I couldn't step on the gas to accelerate. So I pulled over the best I could, on the highway going 55 mph. I shut the car off and when I turned it back on after giving it a couple minutes it was turning over but not turning on. The engine was completely stalled. No warning lights or check engine lights. It was completely random. I had to call family to come pick me and my daughter up. After a few hours we came back a new tried it. It worked but after driving it an hour it did the same thing again. I checked the recalls for my car and their isn't, however when I read up on forums and my car has the same issues as the other 2013 Chrysler 200S. With engine stalling and greater possibility of an engine fire. I think the make and model of the vehicle needs to be investigated. I had my toddler in the car and it was frightening. I'm diligent about keeping up maintenance on my vehicles and if any inclination and or warning I would've been at the mechanic.

On multiple occasions the car has just shut off on its own while in motion. This has happened at least 10 times. Does not matter what speed you are going, the engine will just shut off on its own. The most recent incidents were on a highway going around 55mph and happened twice within a 8 minute period. The first time was going over a bridge and the car shut off. Waited about 3 minutes and the car started. 5 minutes later the car shut off again. Did not restart for another 10 minutes.

While driving slower, decelerating, or beginning to accelerate from a stop, the brakes and steering lock up, and then the car stalls/shuts down. This has happened over 5 times in the past 2 weeks. Prior to that, it would happen about once a week for about two months. It has occurred right before having to merge from a lane of heavy traffic (bumper-to-bumper) onto a busy highway, putting me in a dangerous position. Luckily, after turning the ignition off and then on again, everything works fine...until it doesn't again.

After a few months of having dtc come up for evap and misfire then disappear just a quick as it came up, my vehicle has recently began stalling out while driving, specifically while decelerating or idling. The battery was replaced 2 years ago and tests good every time, as does the alternator, starter, wires, connectors and sensors. Nobody can find any dtc on the obdii or anything else. It's easy to replicate but impossible to decide why. I've talked to the dealership about possible recalls from 2012 concerning the PCM as well as chatted with a few people on the Chrysler website and nobody wants to help. This is a very serious situation, as I can prove with video from my dash cam and back up cam. The people on the Chrysler website were very rude, and the dealership was not willing to stand behind the product either without charging $300 just to diagnose. It's says right on the website "what is a safety recall? safety recalls include any problem encountered with an fca us product related to the safe operation of the vehicle or the safety of the occupants. Fca us llc will correct the problem, at no charge, even if the vehicle is out of warranty and you are not the original owner." As well as "recall faqs fca us regards the safety and security of our customers and their families as paramount. Please see our list of faqs below to learn more about recalls and the precautions we take to keep you safe. If you don't see your concern listed, chat with usand one of our representatives will help answer any questions you may have." The recall I refer to is the tech bulletin 18-102-16A with the exact same symptoms "-2-

During driving in the rain the battery light comes on the steering wheel locks into place then after complete stop steering is back. The check engine light comes on and the thermostat rises to the maximum then that light comes on. Then after 5min or so temp goes back down both engine and temp lights go off but battery light stays on until car is turned off. This only happens when it's heavily raining.

Break light comes on while driving. Stays on for 30secs and then shuts off. Happens when going around a sharp curve, down hill, or stopping abruptly. No check engine light comes on and no codes found. I have researched and seen this has been an ongoing issue with 200S for quite some time now, and there has been no fix. Break pads wear down at a much faster rate than normal. Even after break system has been flushed. Have not had an issue stopping the car, just the light comes on often. 2nd. Rack and pinion has gone out causing the car to lose power steering in 1 direction only. In my instance, I was only able to turn left normally and it was extremely difficult to turn right. Happened when I was parking the car and went to straighten up the wheel. Had the car towed to the dealership to be fixed.

My transmission has had nothing but problems shifting, racing rpms, banging and clunky plus the gears are searching. The software has been updated along with its recalls. Because there is no code when present or engine light. Chrysler will not call it not working. But they state its working fine because no codes or engine light. The dealer gave me a harx time with it as a trade in. The brakes have been an issue and they hear the noise byt state they are fine when in fact they dont always stop when pressing down. My front end and steering has been taken apart and replaced so many times. The front end scapes clunks still. I explained to both Chrysler Corp and arrigo Dodge Chrysler in West palm beach. Im still having problems. The car feels like I lose control of the car. I have a bad car service records state all the repairs. And the dealer is no help when the car was bumber to bumber coverage. All they did was year down take apart which they have done shotty work. And ripped off me. I have no recourse than to be stuck with this so called dream car of mine. $30,000 investment down the tubes.

We have replaced the power steering pump twice thinking that was the problem for the hard steering. It turns out that it is the rack and pinion that is going or has gone out which leads to the hard steering problem. The hard steering happens when the vehicle is in motion and while turning. It is also hard to turn the steering when car is stationary.

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. While driving 60 mph, the steering wheel shook and the traction and two other unknown warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to twin city Honda (10545 memorial blvd, port arthur, tx 77640 (409) 981-1220), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact inquired if the failure could be a fuse issue. The contact stated that the fuses were checked, but no issues were found. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for diagnostic testing. An appointment was made with midcounty Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat (8181 memorial blvd, port arthur, tx 77640 (409) 877-5024) for diagnostic testing. The contact mentioned that she researched recalls online and found NHTSA campaign number: 16V668000 (seat belts, air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer was made aware of the issues and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The failure mileage was 52,600. Parts distribution disconnect.

The contact owns a 2013 Chrysler 200. While driving approximately 20 mph and making a right or left turn, the power steering became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power steering failed and needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, while driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated and stalled. The contact was able to coast into a parking lot. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed, which caused the battery to fail. Both the alternator and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
