Caravan 3.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 122,000 miles

I bought my van last year as a second car to drive the kids around in to little league and etc. Within the first month I had oil leaking from the engine and fixed that. A couple f months later while driving with my kids reverse gave out. The other gears shift ok but I am told I will need a new transmission. Apparently this isnt something unique to my van since the transmission had been fixed once before on this van and I figured it would last awhile. I was wrong. Doing research I see Dodge has many problems with this Caravan brand van. Many people seem to have transmission issues. I wish I had known. I would have kept my money and/our bought diff type of car. I don't plan to fix the van. I paid 2200 for it and its going to cost 2100 to fix. Im done with Dodge.

Caravan Sport 3.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 155,500 miles

While in idle at a drive thru my van started shaking and then killed engine, tried to restart in natural and it worked to start, shifted to any gear and engine killed. turns out the transmission had failed after 155500 miles just 500 after i bought the thing used. i was able to start it and add a considerable amount of gas to get it moving but as soon as that was let up on it would fail.
